Mary Magdalene - Teacher of Spiritual Wisdom

Mary Magdalene represents the gentle yet strong essence of spiritual wisdom and equality of partnership. As a master teacher, Mary’s archetype will guide you to understand how to discern answers for your life through the power of knowing and intuitive intelligence.

Who was Mary Magdalene? Some believe The Magdalene was of royal blood and a high priestess of the Egyptian Isis Goddess cult. Others say she was a master teacher, trained in the mystery schools. During the first century, she was often referred to as a Sophia, Goddess of Wisdom. Mary Magdalene has confounded religious leaders for nearly 2000 years. History reports that Mary Magdalene was an ardent disciple and beloved friend and companion to Jesus. Much of the documented history about her comes from canonical gospels and other sacred codices. Today’s religious scholars find these ancient texts filled with treasures recounting Magdalene’s abilities and her faith. Previously, these texts had been dismissed by the Church Fathers during the third century, and declared to have little or no value concerning Christianity. At that juncture, Mary Magdalene was wrongly depicted as a prostitute, a misconception that lasted for centuries. These claims are now rejected by the majority of biblical scholars, Catholic and non-Catholic alike.

Mary Magdalene’s Story Mary was of a wealthy family and provided financial support for Jesus’ ministry. She traveled and taught with Jesus throughout his life, leading us to believe that she may have been his wife, and an equal partner. She anointed him with expensive oil from her alabaster jar. She washed his feet and dried them with her hair. The story of Mary Magdalene anointing Jesus with the precious oil from an alabaster jar is one of the most significant events recorded in the New Testament gospels, so significant, it was recorded four times. It is also the most intimate expression of relationship in the recorded events of Jesus’ life. The Greeks called this same ritual the Hieros Gamos, the sacred marriage. Throughout Egypt and the Mediterranean this ceremony was performed as part of ancient pagan religions and fertility rites. Before a man was crowned King and permitted to marry a High Priestess of The Mother Goddess, the bride-to-be performed this anointing ritual, indicating her chosen male, spouse and King.

Mary Magdalene’s Symbol: Alabaster Jar (picture of jar on chain) Mary Magdalene is often portrayed with her alabaster jar, the symbol of the sacred marriage ritual. This jar could denote Mary as a High Priestess of The Goddess Isis, prepared for anointing her spouse/King for Holy Matrimony. The alabaster jar represents the sacred union of your own male and female energy coming into balance as well. Buy Now!
