Since we desire the true happiness that is brought about by a calm mind, and such peace of mind arises only from having a compassionate attitude, we need to make a concerted effort to develop compassion. We must use all the events of our daily life to transform our thoughts and behavior. - Dalai Lama

Karen, a.k.a. Kare, has had a lifelong interest in metaphysics. The perpetual student, she enjoys analysis of religion and its origins (particularly early Christianity), history, mythology and archeology. This has lead her through a diverse, yet somehow connected, study of Unity Principles and Healing Prayer and Self-Realization Fellowship and Cayce and the I AM Discourses and Reiki and Distance Healing and ESP and Higher Consciousness studies and the Divine Feminine and...

Karen experienced a series of significant life challenges in her 20‘s and 30‘s. One of which occurred during her first semester as a graduate student at George Washington University in Washington, DC. While there, working on a degree in Art Therapy, she was diagnosed with a malformation of arteries and veins in the brain (an AVM is a congenital birth defect that grows continually, leaving one ever more prone to strokes and seizures). In January of 1990, she endured nine hours of surgery to remove the mass.

This surgery lead to an extended period of rehabilitation and healing. During this time, Karen dove headfirst (no pun intended) into studying the relationship between metaphysics and natural healing.

Because of her interest in natural healing and because of negative reactions to most medications, Karen became an intense student of Flower Essences; Karen now teaches Flower Essence classes and helps others on their personal-growth journey through private consultations.

Over the years, Karen has been quite involved in facilitating church services and meditation/healing groups. Her ability to hold energy and feel a group’s energy leads to a moving experience for all involved. Because of the great reward and peace she experiences during prayerful meditation and as a response to requests from people wanting to bring a piece of that experience home with them, Karen created a CD, entitled Grace. Grace blends prayer, meditation, music and nature.

Karen is a Reiki Master Teacher and an Ordained Minister.

Karen is a student of:

  •  The Bible (favoring the Lamsa translation from Aramaic),
  •  The I AM Discourses,

They have two children whom they are raising to be bilingual (English and French) and to appreciate both their American and African heritage; FeyFey was born in Benin and raised in Senegal, West Africa. In addition to their own children, the Moussous have hosted exchange students from Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa. Karen enjoys friends of many cultures and religions, and is always heartened to find how much people really have in common.
